Box 1a - Insured's ID Number

Box Definition 

Box 1a on the CMS-1500 is where the insured's ID number is entered, as shown on their insurance ID card.

Let's review how to update Box 1a in the RCM!

1. Navigate to the patient profile and click on Treatment Episodes > Intake > Insurance.
    
2. Click on the insurance set. 
   
3. Next, click Policy Holder and select Edit.
    
4. Update the Subscriber ID dropdown. For information on creating a new plan, click here.
   
5. Finally, click Save to complete the process.
