The Patients section of the RCM displays patients' information, such as the patient's name, admission date, and insurance payer. This section offers multiple filters and quick links to allow a user to locate and navigate to the desired section of the RCM.
User Permissions
Admin-level users can view and edit information in the Patients tab without additional permissions. Users with the User-level destination will require additional permissions before viewing or editing patient information. For more information on user profiles and permissions, click here.
Available Workflows/Actions
Users will create both prospective and admitted patient profiles within this section. Additionally, quick links are available to make navigating to specific sections of the patient's profile a breeze.
Filters
The Patients section offers six filters and a search bar, making locating patient information a breeze. Let's review each filter and how it can be used to find desired information!
Filter Definitions
- The Patient feature is used to locate the patient by name and redirect the user to the Treatment Episodes section of the patient's profile.
- The Episode Status displays all patients who are currently admitted by default. This filter can be updated to display only prospective and all patients.

The Patient Status indicates the overall status of the patient's profile. This filter displays Active patients by default but can be updated to include:
- All Patients: This will display all patient profiles, regardless of status.
- Archived Patients: This will display archived patient profiles.
- Inactive Patients: This will display patients who have been discharged.

With Outstanding Claims: This will display patients with outstanding insurance claim balances.
- The Practice filter is used to group patients based on the practice with which their treatment episode is associated.
- The Insurance Payer filter is used to refine the list of patients based on the primary medical payer selected within their insurance set.
- The Sort by filter is used to customize the ordering of patients' names. Utilizing this filter allows users to adjust how the patient's first and last name is displayed in the section.

The Filter by dropdown is utilized to locate patients based on their date of birth. Selecting this filter will generate a calendar icon to input the desired birthdate.
Quick Links
In addition to filters, the Patients section offers multiple quick links that redirect users to specific parts of the patient's profile. Let's review each quick link and where it will redirect to!
Quick Links Definitions
- The Patient quick link will direct users to the Treatment Episodes section of the patient's profile.
- The Insurance Payer quick link will direct users to the Payer subtab within the patient's most recent primary insurance set.
- The Intake quick link will direct users to the Admit/Discharge subsection of the patient's most recent treatment episode.
- The Attendance quick link will direct users to the patient's Attendance History, which is located under the Scheduling and Utilization tab of the patient's most recent treatment episode.
- The U/R quick link will direct users to the UR section under the Scheduling and Utilization tab of the patient's most recent treatment episode.
- The Claims quick link will direct users to the Claims section of the patient's most recent treatment episode.
- The Ins. Payments quick link will direct the user to the Payments subsection of the Insurance Billing tab.
- The Patient Statements quick link will only display for organizations with the Patient Billing module. This will redirect the user to the Statements subsection under the Patient Billing tab of the patient's profile.
- The Collect Payment quick link will only display for organizations with the Patient Billing module. This will redirect the user to the Payments subsection under the Patient Billing tab of the patient's profile.
