Box Definition
The occurrence code and the date field define a significant event associated with the bill that affects the payer's processing (e.g., accident, employment-related, etc.).
The provider enters code(s) and associated date(s) defining specific event(s) relating to this billing period.

A Claim Form Rule is required to apply Occurrence Codes to a patient's claim. Let's review how to update Box 31-34 in the RCM!
- To populate Box 31-34, you'll need to select the Occurrence Code and Occurrence Code Date on the Treatment Episode. For more information on updating the occurrence information, click here.
