Box 54a, 54b, 54c - Prior Payments

Box Definition

Boxes 54a, 54b, and 54c on the UB-04 are where the prior payments received toward payment of the claim are shown in dollars and cents. This field is only available on secondary (2.x) and tertiary (3.x) claims. 

• A - Primary
• B - Secondary
• C - Tertiary

To change the prior payment on the claim form:

1. Navigate to the patient's treatment episode > Insurance Billing > Claims.
2. Click on the claim number.
   
3. Navigate to Work Claim > Payments.
4. Click on the Check Number. 
5. Click Edit.
6. Edit the Paid column.
   
7. Click Save.
